Oil pump drive gear changes tooth profile & size at Engine No. RL.35157 to match the modified drive gear on the camshaft introduced at the same time. This gear can be identified by measuring the outside diameter: 1.362 to 1.366 in. (34.59 to 34.96mm).

At Engine No. RL.45095, a new oil pump drive gear with offset distributor drive dogs was introduced. This prevents reassembly with the distributor 180° out. This is part No. 6332508, and should be matched with distributor drive sleeve part No. 7952552 with a correspondingly offset slot.

Upon reassembly with the new drive dogs, the steel ball in the flywheel should be aligned with the centre of the timing aperture notch, with No. 1 piston on compression stroke.

Install the oil pump so that the distributor drive dogs are at 90° to the axis of the camshaft, or within 14° clockwise of this position, with the dogs offset to the rear of the engine.
