From Engine No. RL9784 onwards, a modified clutch pressure plate was introduced, with sixteen coil springs and 4 release arms; as opposed to the nine springs and 3 release-arms of the older type.

Rear Axle

Fully-floating, with hypoid final drive, drive andtorque taken through rear springs. Pinion straddle-mounted between roller bearings. 3-pinion differential.


Rear Suspension

Semi-elliptic, progressive type spring, with second leaf extending forward around spring-eye.


Front Axle

Differential and hypoid gear assembly common with rear axle. Enclosed front-wheel drive. Steering pivots taken by taper roller bearings. Front hubs mounted on taper roller bearings.

Camber Angle 0.5° to 1°
Steering Pivot Inclination 6° to 7°
Castor Angle 1° to 2°

Front Suspension

Semi-elliptic with second leaf extending forward around spring-eye. The rear section of the spring incorporates a wind-up restriction plate.


Shock Absorbers

Double-acting hydraulic, front and rear.
